Demodex is a tiny mite that lives in the pores and hair follicles. It presents with itching, tearing and continuous discharge. It is extremely contagious, easily causing conjunctivitis, blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids), as well as loss of eyelashes. The treatment lasts 2 and a half months, with office visits for cleanings and treatment monitoring and daily cleanings at home.
