Demodex is a tiny mite that lives in pores and hair follicles. It presents with itching, watery eyes, and continuous discharge. It is highly contagious, easily causing conjunctivitis, blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids), and eyelash loss. Treatment lasts two and a half months, with office visits for cleanings and monitoring, and daily home cleanings.
