Symptoms of dry eye syndrome can affect one or both eyes and often include: burning or gritty feeling in the eyes, mucus in the eyes, sensitivity to light, red eyes, difficulty seeing at night, watery and stinging eyes, blurred vision.

At first, clouding of vision caused by a cataract may affect only a small part of the lens of your eye. You may not notice any vision loss. As the cataract grows, it clouds the lens more. Increased cloudiness changes the light that passes through the lens. This can make symptoms more noticeable.

Conventional treatment for conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism is usually based on corrective prescription lenses. Conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachment require advanced medical and surgical treatments.

A medical exam includes the diagnosis and treatment of an eye disease or condition (such as glaucoma, conjunctivitis, or cataracts). A routine eye exam, on the other hand, includes the diagnosis and treatment of nonmedical conditions, such as astigmatism or farsightedness.

Symptoms can start so slowly that you may not notice them. The only way to know if you have glaucoma is to have a comprehensive dilated eye exam. There is no cure for glaucoma, but early treatment can often stop the damage and protect your vision.
