Corneal Topography

GALILEO G6
Brand: ZIEMER
  • Computerized Corneal Topography

The new GALILEI G6 is part of the latest generation of topographers with a dual Scheimpflug system and integrated Placido disc. It inherits all the functions of the GALILEI G4 and incorporates biometric capabilities using optical coherence technology (OCT). It is the only device that combines patented Placido-dual Scheimpflug, frontal camera, and eye tracking for maximum precision and repeatability. This device is capable of combining and analyzing all the data using ray tracing to create a 3D reconstruction of the cornea and anterior chamber. This achieves superior accuracy in elevation, curvature, pachymetry, total corneal power, and anterior chamber biometry. The GALILEI G6 is the most modern application platform for femto-cataracts.

Corneal topography is a diagnostic test used to determine the characteristics of the cornea, examining its surface relief to determine whether there are any irregularities and to identify the different degrees of curvature of this membrane that covers the outer part of the eye and is essential for vision due to its refractive optical properties. Although there is a wide variety of equipment based on different principles, the result of all these tests is a kind of "3D map" of the cornea, a representation of the corneal surface that shows its thickness, curvature, elevation, power, and relief.
